Live with Regis and Kelly
I chose to follow Regis and Kelly because I enjoy their show. Kelly is my age with children about the same age as mine. I find her extremely funny and entertaining. I enjoy listening to their “tech” talks, as Regis is not a technology person at all. He doesn’t use a computer and doesn’t have a cell phone (but he may have recently gotten one). I watched the day they discussed their new twitter site and enjoyed listening to them discuss “technology” because it is apparent they are NOT comfortable with it. While following their Facebook, I was informed of their upcoming episodes and guests. I also followed the discussion part of their Facebook. This turned out to be a very negative experience. The followers made comments on Kelly’s appearance, and there were several comments by people who disliked Gellman. I didn’t like the negativity behind those postings. It was fun following their contests although my baby didn’t make the top five during “Beautiful Baby Week”. This was a fun site to follow.
Teacher Magazine
The other company I followed on Facebook was Teacher Magazine. This was definitely more educational and informational than my other choice. I enjoyed reading their question forum. One time they were discussing whether teachers were more concerned with administrative red tape than their paychecks. Another day I read about the district in Rhode Island that fired all of its teachers in a school that was failing. I followed that story closely. I was surprised to read that Obama supported this decision. Then on a later posting it stated that the Superintendent was rethinking those firings. I was disappointed with the site because in order to read some article’s entirety I would have to subscribe for $6.95 a month. However, some days the entire article was online. This site was definitely worth my time. I was able to read about current educational issues.
